Our Memory Care Special Cares Unit provides a secure setting with dedicated staff specially trained to deliver compassionate, personalized support for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

We focus on nurturing independence—offering help with daily needs while honoring each resident’s individuality, self-worth, and dignity.

We meet each resident where they are, offering the right level of support while honoring their independence. From daily assistance to medication management, our team provides care with compassion, respect, and dignity.

Since January 2015, Integrity Open Arms has proudly been one of only 75 certified Music & Memory facilities in North Carolina. This distinction allows us to bring an innovative, proven approach to enhancing the lives of our residents—and the results have been truly remarkable.
The Music & Memory program is designed to spark joy and connection for those living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other cognitive or physical challenges. By reintroducing personal musical favorites, residents often reconnect with cherished memories, rediscover their sense of self, and engage more fully—finding comfort, conversation, and meaningful moments in the present.

Our staff carefully creates individualized playlists filled with each resident’s favorite songs—capturing the music that holds meaning, comfort, and joy. Playlists can be updated anytime to reflect changing preferences and special requests.

Residents enjoy their music through an iPod and headphones, providing a private, immersive listening experience. All equipment is safely stored and ready whenever they are, making each session simple and stress-free.
Music has a unique power to reach parts of memory untouched by Alzheimer’s or dementia. While recent memories may fade, familiar songs from earlier years often remain, unlocking lyrics, emotions, and treasured life moments. These personal favorites can calm anxiety, focus attention, and rekindle meaningful connections with loved ones and the present moment.
Our Memory Care unit is purposefully crafted to support both safety and comfort. Residents enjoy soothing common areas, secure outdoor spaces, and thoughtfully arranged living environments that encourage familiarity and ease. Every detail is designed to create a calming, nurturing atmosphere where residents feel protected, supported, and at home.

Open Arms accepts residents who pay privately as well as residents who are recipients of assistance from the Department of Social Services. The State of North Carolina provides a program that could possibly help with the cost of care at Open Arms. The program has two parts. The first part is Special Assistance (SA) for the cost of room and board. The second part is Medicaid which would help pay for the medical needs of the resident as well as the personal care services provided to the resident while living at Open Arms.
Special Assistance requires a separate application to be processed through your local Department of Social Services. Please remember, Special Assistance is only for room and board cost associated with an assisted living facility. To qualify for Special Assistance, your income must be less than the income level set by the State of North Carolina.
Currently:
Assisted Living Criteria:
Max income per month: $1,428.51
Max assets: $2000.00
Memory Care Criteria:
Max income per month: $1,812.51
Max assets: $2000.00
If the person is eligible for Special Assistance, then Medicaid eligibility is ensured. Included with the monthly room and board cost is a small personal allowance for personal items.
The Medicaid program pays for an assortment of medical expenses for the resident. Medicaid is usually used in conjunction with Medicare to pay for doctor visits, hospital stays, medications, durable medical equipment, and other medically related services such as physical therapy. Open Arms is licensed under the Medicaid program to receive funding for personal care services provided for residents who qualify for assistance with activities of daily living.
